Johannah Duggar's Secretive Wedding: What We Know About Her Private Ceremony

The Duggar family has expanded once again following Johannah Duggar and David Swanson’s wedding. Us exclusively confirms the pair tied the knot on September 10, according to county records. Johannah, 20, is the 16th child and sixth daughter of Jim Bob Duggar and wife Michelle Duggar, who rose to reality TV fame on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting. (Johannah was the second child to be born on TV in their large brood.) Like some of her siblings, Johannah kept her courtship private before quietly tying the knot. News broke in early September that she had filed for a marriage license in Arkansas and had 60 days to legally get hitched. According to their wedding website on The Knot, Johannah and David, 23, were set to exchange their vows on Saturday, October 10. However, Johannah and David got married early with Gospel Light Baptist Church minister Noel Cwenar serving as the officiant, per records seen by Us. The newlyweds already had a familial connection — one that some Counting On fans may remember. David is the younger brother of Lauren Duggar (née Swanson), who married Johannah’s older brother Josiah Duggar in June 2018 following a three-month engagement. (Lauren and Josiah, 30, share three kids.) The Swanson family almost had three Duggar weddings, when Johannah’s brother James Duggar was reportedly engaged to Lydia Swanson, but the pair never made it down the aisle. (The pair’s Target registry revealed their wedding date as May 21.) While the family has not released any photos from Johannah and David's ceremony, Jessa Duggar hinted at a recent reunion with some of her sisters via Instagram on September 17. “The last month or two, in no particular order ✨,” she captioned the upload, which featured one photo with Joy-Anna Duggar and Jinger Duggar sitting on the couch. Jessa, 33, shared a second photo of sisters Johannah, Jennifer Duggar and Jordyn-Grace Duggar on a coffee date. Johannah is the latest Duggar to take the plunge, following Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann, who got married in August 2024, and Jason Duggar and Maddie Duggar, who tied the knot that October. Ariana Grande was MIA at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards following the announcement she would be taking a step back from the public spotlight. Grande, 33, missed the star-studded event held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27, amid her break from the public amid backlash regarding her appearance. Grande is nominated for eight awards this year, including Video of the Year, Best Pop Song, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Visual Effects and Song of the Summer for her hit “Hate That I Made You Love Me.” Grande is also up for Best Artist. Grande’s apparent decision to skip the celebratory evening comes after she shared that she’s taking a “step back” from the public eye in August amid the “negativity” she’s faced in recent months regarding her body and weight. “Sometimes when a story comes out that’s not directly from me, things can get a little blown out of proportion,” she told her audience during her Eternal Sunshine Tour shortly after the announcement.  “So I just wanted to speak to my fans directly tonight because I love you so much. The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing.” The singer continued, “It is something that I had decided to plan that I had quietly made a long time ago and it’s a decision that was made from a thoughtful and empowered place. And I want you to know many things can be true at the same time. I want to share this because I heard that my fans were worried that negativity was ruining things for me, but I just have to say that could not be more the f*** opposite.” Grande added that while boundaries needed “to be set,” she also wanted to relax and have a well-deserved “break.” “Also, this can be and will continue to be the greatest experience of my professional and creative life,” she said. “No matter what noises exist out there, nothing will ever be able to distort my reality or be more real to me or elaborate to me than this love that we share. Her husband Kelce, 36, is unable to join her during the celebratory evening due to his own busy schedule — his Kansas City Chiefs were busy taking on the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Sunday. (The Chiefs emerged victorious in a 24-10 win.) Kelce has previously supported Swift when she received industry honors, including flying from the Chiefs minicamp to attend her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City in June. Justin Verlander was overcome with emotion when his 7-year-old daughter, Genevieve, ran toward him on the pitchers’ mound after his last Detroit Tigers baseball game. “I had no clue. I was totally blindsided,” Verlander, 43, told reporters after the September, September 26, game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. “It hit me like a ton of bricks, that was amazing. I was sobbing and had to make sure she understood I was happy.” Saturday’s game marked the final time that Verlander, who shares Genevieve and 15-month-old son Bellamy with wife Kate Upton, started in an MLB game. (The Tigers ultimately defeated the Pirates 4-3.) To celebrate her dad’s accomplishment, Genevieve — fittingly dressed in a miniature version of Verlander’s jersey — ran onto the diamond to give him a big hug. After the father-daughter duo’s embrace, Upton, 34, and Bellamy joined them on the field for a sweet group hug. “She was fine, I think, [but] I just wanted to make sure she was fine,” he added in his postgame press conference of Genevieve. “She’s never seen me cry like that. I think walking off the field with my family, and obviously we’ve talked a lot about how my life has changed and what my family has meant to me, … to be able to walk off the field with them, I can’t think of a better ending.” Hours before the game, Verlander was honored by the team with an official retirement ceremony. “I feel like I ran my race. I gave it everything I had,” the baseball star said in his Friday, September 25, speech. “I see my daughter, who’s 7 now, and how fast that goes and how much of that time frame I’ve missed already. I have a 1-year-old son now. I know that I’m going to be able to be there for him and experience more of that childhood that I missed, unfortunately, with my daughter [and] also be there for her in some very formative years coming up.” Upton, Genevieve and Bellamy were also present at Friday’s ceremony, where Verlander gushed that their family has “tremendously” changed his life. “I’m a different person now because of them, and I’ve loved every moment of it, growing into a different person,” he added at the time. “There’s a quote that I like that says, ‘What’s the point of living life if you don’t let life change you?’” Verlander and the model have been married since 2017 after meeting years earlier in 2012 on the set of a Major League Baseball video game commercial. “She’s been the most amazing woman and mom,” Verlander exclusively told Us in 2019 of watching Upton become a parent. “I knew that she would set a great example for our daughter, no matter what. It’s the person that she is, it’s the person who I married. I’ve always appreciated her for her strength.”

Todd Meadows’ final moments were filmed for the Deadliest Catch season 22 finale. Shortly before Meadows fell overboard the Aleutian Lady vessel in February, he spoke to his three young children via FaceTime call — a touching and heartbroken moment captured by the camera crew and featured on the Friday, September 25, episode. “I hope you’re being safe. If you’re not being safe, you better be safe,” Meadows’ daughter told her dad during the conversation. Meadows subsequently reassured his child, noting, “Oh, I’m being safe.” The pair then made plans for a family salmon fishing outing upon his return home. After the call ended, he tragically died in a fishing-related incident. The moments during and after Meadow’s rescue were captured on film but weren’t shown in the finale episode. Instead, information about his death was displayed on the screen. “On February 25th, 2026, deckhand Todd Meadows went overboard,” the text read. “After six minutes and 26 seconds in the water, he was recovered unresponsive.” Elsewhere during the finale, the ship’s captain, Rich Shelford, could be heard telling his crew, “Keep doing CRP! Keep doing CPR! Keep pumping!” News broke of Meadow’s death in early March. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Todd Meadows,” a spokesperson for the Discovery Channel said in a statement, announcing Meadow’s death. “This is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with his loved ones, his crewmates, and the entire fishing community during this incredibly difficult time.” The United States Coast Guard confirmed to Us that Meadows’ body was “recovered unresponsive by the crew” within 10 minutes of him going overboard. Captain Shelford later called the incident “the most tragic day” in the ship’s history. “Todd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family,” Shelford wrote via Facebook at the time. “His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always.” He continued, “Todd’s love for his children, his family, and his life was evident in everything he did. He worked hard, loved deeply, and brought joy to those around him. Right now, our hearts are broken in a way that words can’t fully express. We ask that you lift Todd’s children and family in prayer and keep them in your thoughts as they face the days ahead without him.” Shelford further noted that Meadows ”will forever be part of this boat, this crew and this brotherhood.” “Though we lost him far too soon, his legacy will live on through his children and in every memory we carry of him,” his statement concluded. “Rest easy brother, till we meet again.” Meadows’ bunkmate, Trey John Green III, later exclusively told Us how the late deckhand was an “amazing human” on and off the screen. “Todd was doing a great job,” Green  added, believing the accident was “none of Todd’s fault.”
