Perez Hilton's Emotional Reunion with Kids During Treatment Sparks Reactions

Perez Hilton’s family is sharing an update on his kids after his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, was granted temporary custody amid his mental health treatment following a suicide attempt. “We’re very happy to share that over the past few weeks, Perez has been able to reconnect with his children and his mom,” the blogger’s family wrote in a post on his website on Tuesday, September 29. “They were first able to spend time together through a few video calls, and since then, Perez has also been able to see his children and his mom a few times for short, supervised visits at the facility.” Hilton, 48, is a single father to son Mario, 13, and daughters Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8. “Seeing his children in person has meant an enormous amount to Perez,” his family continued. “There have definitely been a lot of emotions for everyone, but being able to spend that time together has been incredibly meaningful and healing.” The post added, “We’re grateful for the progress Perez has made so far, and especially grateful that he and his children have been able to spend some time together again.” Hilton was hospitalized on August 4 following a disturbing livestream in which he engaged in acts of self-harm. He underwent surgery due to significant blood loss and remained in the hospital for several weeks before moving to an inpatient treatment facility to focus on his mental health and recovery. Amid his treatment, Us confirmed last month that Hilton’s mom had been awarded temporary custody of his children. Hilton’s friend Tom D’Angora recently launched a GoFundMe page to help Lavandeira care for the kids. The fundraiser has received more than $14,000 in donations out of its $25,000 goal since its launch on September 17. “Perez’s mom has been incredibly touched and honestly overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. It’s meant so much to her and to the kids,” his family said in their update on Tuesday. “As for Perez, he remains in residential treatment, where the focus continues to be on his mental health and recovery,” their statement continued. “Communication with Perez is still limited, and we’re not able to talk to him daily. While that’s hard for us and for him, we understand that right now the priority isn’t constant communication with family, but rather giving him the time and space to focus on his care and continue making progress.” Hilton’s family noted that he is “continuing to work with his care team on understanding what led to his mental health crisis, recognizing warning signs, learning better ways to cope and working through everything that brought him to this point.” They also shared that they do not yet have a timeline for when Hilton will be able to return home. “This is all still very new to us,” his family said. “We’re listening to the doctors, psychiatrists, therapists, and everyone involved in his care, and trusting their guidance on what Perez needs and when he’s ready for each next step. Caleb Flynn’s murder trial ended with jurors finding the former “American Idol” contestant and pastor guilty on all nine charges in connection with the killing of his wife, Ashley Flynn. The jury returned the verdict on Tuesday, September 29, according to courtroom footage livestreamed by CourtTV. Caleb, 40, was convicted of charges including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. He became tearful and started to cry as the verdict was read, courtroom footage shows, before he was led out of court. Caleb pleaded not guilty in the case, according to CNN. He’s facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. Caleb’s defense attorney, L. Patrick Mulligan, didn’t immediately return Us’ request for comment. The former reality TV contestant and pastor’s conviction comes more than seven months after he was accused of staging the scene of Ashley’s murder at their Tipp City, Ohio, home in February. Ashley was 37 when she was shot dead in her sleep. Police bodycam footage captured Caleb sobbing at the home after he called 911 on February 16. He claimed Ashley was killed by a burglar during a break-in. During his trial, prosecutors detailed how Caleb expressed wanting to kill his wife in text messages sent to his mistress, Alleigha Botner, including messages indicating he wanted Ashley to die, NBC News reported. Botner, who’s now 24, testified against her former boyfriend and read several of their over 100,000 text messages out loud. According to her testimony, the pair both sent text messages saying they wanted to kill Ashley. Messages also indicated that Caleb hated Ashley and her family. Botner said she didn’t “mean it” when reading one of the texts during her chilling testimony, in which she wrote, “I want to kill her,” referring to Ashley, according to CNN. Caleb and Ashley had been married for 15 years and had two daughters, per the Dayton Daily News. The girls were reportedly asleep in the next room at the time their mother was killed. Ashley was a Tipp City teacher and volleyball coach at Tippecanoe Middle School, according to Tipp City Schools. During closing arguments, Mulligan said in Caleb’s defense that the prosecution didn’t present evidence proving that he murdered Ashley, CNN reported, only that they proved Caleb was having an affair. He referenced how the gun linked to her death was missing. “This simply is proven versus not proven, and respectfully I would suggest this is a matter of not proven, and therefore worthy of a verdict of not guilty,” Mulligan said. Miami County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Watkins, however, said all evidence “pointed to the defendant.” Caleb is expected to be sentenced on Monday, October 5.

Dennis Haskins' Secret Battle with Parkinson's Before His Tragic Passing

New details surrounding Dennis Haskins’ health have been revealed after his death at the age of 75. Haskins’ friend and caretaker Kimberly Snow confirmed to The New York Times that the Saved By the Bell actor had been in an assisted living facility since he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease eight years ago. According to the Mayo Clinic, Parkinson’s is a movement disorder of the nervous system that worsens over time. Symptoms, such as slurred speech, get worse over time. Snow also confirmed that Haskins died on Sunday, September 27, in Burbank, California. His official cause of death has yet to be revealed. “It’s a tragic loss,” his spokesperson confirmed to Us on Monday, September 28. “Everyone loved Mr. Belding and those of us who got to know Dennis, loved him even more.” Haskins originated the role of Bayside High School’s Principal Richard Belding on the short-lived teen comedy Good Morning, Miss Bliss in 1988. The sitcom was revamped as Saved by the Bell the following year and aired from 1989 to 1993 on NBC. He was featured in all 86 episodes of the show. In his later years, Haskins was a regular at a local bar called Dimples Karaoke. His caretaker was a bartender at the establishment until it closed in 2014. “About eight years ago, he became ill. He had been silent about his fight with Parkinson’s, among other health concerns, because he did not want the attention,” Dimples Karaoke wrote via Instagram on Monday. “He did not want to have to tell people. He would say, ‘What do I even say?’ So I respected his wishes and stayed quiet, and I helped him through his journey into the next chapter of his life.” The statement continued, “Late last night, that journey ended for him. He is now at peace and is probably entertaining the people in the sky. Just know that if you tried to reach out to him in the last few years, I did read your messages to him, and you were heard. After I said my final goodbyes to him last night, I was across the hall signing some paperwork. I looked up and saw that the room he had been in was a gift from the Mario Lopez Golf Classic, and somehow, that made me feel a little better. What a cool and amazing life he had. Rest in peace, Dennis. FilmMagicWill explained that four months after his January wedding to Amanda Dubin, he found “a hard, tender lump in [his] left testicle.”He went in for an ultrasound “at Amanda’s urging,” and “the images confirmed the unimaginable” — he “had a mass that had to come out.”Will underwent an orchiectomy in May to have the testicle removed, but what he thought was a “momentary frightening detour” escalated when he was diagnosed with embryonal carcinoma, an aggressive form of testicular cancer.The 34-year-old underwent two surgeries. ABCHe also did two rounds of chemotherapy. ABCAs a result, Will underwent another surgery to have dozens of lymph nodes removed from his abdomen to prevent the cancer from spreading.He went under the knife at Memorial Sloan Kettering, the same building where his mom, Dana Reeve, lost her battle to lung cancer in 2006 at 44 years old, two years after her husband’s passing at 52.Will made the “necessary choice” to undergo chemotherapy to slash his chances of a cancer recurrence, with his symptoms including ringing ears, night sweats, blood clots, constant headaches and bone pain.“The diagnosis was a shock and the treatments were a slog,” he told viewers. ABCHowever, Will clarified, “We arrived at our destination and this cancer is in the rearview mirror.” ABCWill did not, however, lose his hair to the treatment thanks to a cold-capping method — and he banked sperm so he and Dubin can start a family one day via in vitro fertilization.Will, who raved about getting “clean scans” on Sept. 8., shared more details in a People interview, saying that while he is “going to be fine,” this was “one heck of a chapter” in his life.“I’m fortunate that I caught this early,” he stressed. “Yes, I had to jump through some flaming hoops to get to the other side, but it could have been much worse had I ignored it or delayed going to the doctor.”He praised his wife for being his “caregiver,” comparing his partner to his mom, who cared for Christopher after the “Superman” star’s horse-riding accident left him paralyzed in 1995.He received “clean scans” on Sept. 8.
