Phil Mickelson's Alleged Infidelity and Golf Club Drama: What Really Happened?

Pro golfer Phil Mickelson voluntarily checked into a treatment center after he was allegedly kicked out of a prestigious country club amid claims of infidelity and inappropriate conduct. "Phil was seeking treatment for family trauma and addiction,” a representative for Mickelson, 56, confirmed to Us on Wednesday, September 30.  The six-time major champion has already checked out of the facility, according to TMZ Sports. Mickelson was accused of cheating on his wife of 30 years, Amy, multiple times in a scathing June report written by journalist Alan Shipnuck and published by Skratch Golf. Shipnuck spoke to a member of the Bridges golf club — located near the Mickelson family’s Rancho Santa Fe, California home — who claimed Mickelson recruited staff members to help him cheat on Amy, who was allegedly tracking his phone.   “Phil would give his phone to a young man in the pro shop and pay him $500 to drive around the course for three or four hours,” a Bridges member alleged. “Amy was tracking his phone; that way, she would think he was out on the golf course. That gave Phil the time to sneak over to this guy’s house and have his secret rendezvous.” Another member claimed, “It wasn’t just employees [Mickelson] gave his phone to, it was also members. He’d be like, ‘Hey, if it’s okay I’m gonna put my phone in your cart, I’ll catch up with you on the back nine.’” In another instance, Mickelson was accused of showing “a full-body picture of himself naked with an erection while flexing one bicep” to Ashley Perez, the then-wife of Mickelson’s longtime friend, Pat Perez.  “Phil says to me, ‘I’m going to leave my bedroom door open tonight. When Pat falls asleep I want you to come see me,” Ashley told Shipnuck.  A spokesperson for Mickelson issued a statement to Us regarding the allegations surrounding his alleged conduct and the state of his marriage.  “Mrs. Mickelson is not a public figure,” the statement said. “She did not choose this spotlight, and there was no legitimate journalistic reason to drag her into it. Shipnuck nevertheless gave anonymous sources a platform to speculate about her marriage, her motives and decisions they had no firsthand knowledge of.”  The statement continued, “Shipnuck’s reporting suggests that Mrs. Mickelson orchestrated Mr. Mickelson’s departures from golf clubs. That is false. Mr. Mickelson has never been forced by his wife or by any golf club to surrender his membership. Those decisions were his alone.” The Skratch Golf story came in the wake of a separate allegation against Mickelson, in which the pro golfer was accused of inappropriately touching a female employee at The Farms Golf Club, located outside of San Diego. “Mickelson approached the female employee at the clubhouse where he made nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact with her,” Golf Digest reported in June. “The employee rejected his advances.” The club initiated “a review and investigation” and confronted Mickelson with their findings, asking him to leave the premises.  “The Farms Golf Club is committed to maintaining a golf club environment that is safe, respectful and reflects the highest standards of conduct,” the club said in a statement to Golf Digest. “All members are required to adhere to our Code of Conduct, and any allegations of misconduct are taken seriously. Following a staff member report of member misconduct, the Club provided immediate and ongoing support to the staff member, conducted a thorough independent investigation of the incident and took decisive action. This individual is no longer a member of The Farms Golf Club.” “Any misunderstanding has been cleared up,” a spokesperson for Mickelson said about the alleged incident at The Farms.

Dancing With the Stars is bringing the turf to the ballroom with its first-ever Super Bowl Night. The theme was announced during Good Morning America on Wednesday, September 30, with ABC revealing that the ballroom dance competition will host a night of legendary proportions honoring the “music, spectacle and unforgettable moments of the big game.” Super Bowl Night will kick off on Tuesday, October 13, with the remaining couples taking the dance floor for routines set to songs performed during halftime at the annual NFL championship game. The exciting new theme is a nod to Disney’s upcoming integration plan with ABC and ESPN, which will air this season’s Super Bowl on Sunday, February 14, 2027. While fans have to wait some time to see which two football teams will face off at the big game, DWTS viewers will see their favorite dancers competing again next week for Mariah Carey Night. Perez Hilton’s family is sharing an update on his kids after his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, was granted temporary custody amid his mental health treatment following a suicide attempt. “We’re very happy to share that over the past few weeks, Perez has been able to reconnect with his children and his mom,” the blogger’s family wrote in a post on his website on Tuesday, September 29. “They were first able to spend time together through a few video calls, and since then, Perez has also been able to see his children and his mom a few times for short, supervised visits at the facility.” Hilton, 48, is a single father to son Mario, 13, and daughters Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8. “Seeing his children in person has meant an enormous amount to Perez,” his family continued. “There have definitely been a lot of emotions for everyone, but being able to spend that time together has been incredibly meaningful and healing.” The post added, “We’re grateful for the progress Perez has made so far, and especially grateful that he and his children have been able to spend some time together again.” Hilton was hospitalized on August 4 following a disturbing livestream in which he engaged in acts of self-harm. He underwent surgery due to significant blood loss and remained in the hospital for several weeks before moving to an inpatient treatment facility to focus on his mental health and recovery. Amid his treatment, Us confirmed last month that Hilton’s mom had been awarded temporary custody of his children. Hilton’s friend Tom D’Angora recently launched a GoFundMe page to help Lavandeira care for the kids. The fundraiser has received more than $14,000 in donations out of its $25,000 goal since its launch on September 17. “Perez’s mom has been incredibly touched and honestly overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. It’s meant so much to her and to the kids,” his family said in their update on Tuesday. “As for Perez, he remains in residential treatment, where the focus continues to be on his mental health and recovery,” their statement continued. “Communication with Perez is still limited, and we’re not able to talk to him daily. While that’s hard for us and for him, we understand that right now the priority isn’t constant communication with family, but rather giving him the time and space to focus on his care and continue making progress.” Hilton’s family noted that he is “continuing to work with his care team on understanding what led to his mental health crisis, recognizing warning signs, learning better ways to cope and working through everything that brought him to this point.” They also shared that they do not yet have a timeline for when Hilton will be able to return home. “This is all still very new to us,” his family said. “We’re listening to the doctors, psychiatrists, therapists, and everyone involved in his care, and trusting their guidance on what Perez needs and when he’s ready for each next step. Caleb Flynn’s murder trial ended with jurors finding the former “American Idol” contestant and pastor guilty on all nine charges in connection with the killing of his wife, Ashley Flynn. The jury returned the verdict on Tuesday, September 29, according to courtroom footage livestreamed by CourtTV. Caleb, 40, was convicted of charges including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. He became tearful and started to cry as the verdict was read, courtroom footage shows, before he was led out of court. Caleb pleaded not guilty in the case, according to CNN. He’s facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. Caleb’s defense attorney, L. Patrick Mulligan, didn’t immediately return Us’ request for comment. The former reality TV contestant and pastor’s conviction comes more than seven months after he was accused of staging the scene of Ashley’s murder at their Tipp City, Ohio, home in February. Ashley was 37 when she was shot dead in her sleep. Police bodycam footage captured Caleb sobbing at the home after he called 911 on February 16. He claimed Ashley was killed by a burglar during a break-in. During his trial, prosecutors detailed how Caleb expressed wanting to kill his wife in text messages sent to his mistress, Alleigha Botner, including messages indicating he wanted Ashley to die, NBC News reported. Botner, who’s now 24, testified against her former boyfriend and read several of their over 100,000 text messages out loud. According to her testimony, the pair both sent text messages saying they wanted to kill Ashley. Messages also indicated that Caleb hated Ashley and her family. Botner said she didn’t “mean it” when reading one of the texts during her chilling testimony, in which she wrote, “I want to kill her,” referring to Ashley, according to CNN. Caleb and Ashley had been married for 15 years and had two daughters, per the Dayton Daily News. The girls were reportedly asleep in the next room at the time their mother was killed. Ashley was a Tipp City teacher and volleyball coach at Tippecanoe Middle School, according to Tipp City Schools. During closing arguments, Mulligan said in Caleb’s defense that the prosecution didn’t present evidence proving that he murdered Ashley, CNN reported, only that they proved Caleb was having an affair. He referenced how the gun linked to her death was missing. “This simply is proven versus not proven, and respectfully I would suggest this is a matter of not proven, and therefore worthy of a verdict of not guilty,” Mulligan said. Miami County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Watkins, however, said all evidence “pointed to the defendant.” Caleb is expected to be sentenced on Monday, October 5.
