Charles Kelley Finds Hope and Strength Amid Blood Cancer Battle New

Charles Kelley Finds Hope and Strength Amid Blood Cancer Battle

Lady A’s Charles Kelley is finding the positive after sharing his blood cancer diagnosis with the world. “Hey everybody. I’m out on a stroll with [my] little man. I don’t know if it’s just because it’s Sunday and it’s a pretty day, but I’m feeling amazing today,” Kelley, 45, shared via his Instagram Story on Sunday, October 4. “I have been fortunate enough to speak with several specialists in person and over the phone. It’s just a new game now with multiple myeloma, and I had a moment where I was thinking about all those patients over the years and decades that went through these trials to help people like me. That’s just pretty wild.” Last month, the country music singer revealed to his social media followers that he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. According to the Mayo Clinic, the rare blood cancer forms in plasma cells, a type of white blood cell. Treatment can help reduce complications and ease symptoms. “Now, the landscape has changed so much. I’ve got every reason to hope for a long, normal lifespan and manage this disease but maybe even at some point have this thing cured,” Kelley shared in his latest update. “Thinking about all those people who went through those trials to have this opportunity for me really makes me feel thankful.” When first sharing his diagnosis, Kelley said the first six months of treatment won’t be “super invasive,” which will likely allow him to still work and perform at Lady A’s upcoming Christmas shows. He also teased that the group has a new record coming out soon. In a separate Instagram post on Sunday, Lady A — made up of Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood — shared a preview of some of the powerful new music they are working on. “The day before we went into the studio to finish up our next record, this song was sent to Hillary. We cut it the next day and then, a week later, we learned of Charles’ cancer diagnosis,” the group wrote via Instagram. “God’s timing in allowing this song to find us and the message behind it is truly carrying us right now, and we can’t help but think some of y’all might need to hear it too. We trust there’s a bigger picture.” Scott, 40, proceeded to sing some of the lyrics, which remind believers that God has a plan — even when life doesn’t always go as planned. “Sometimes I shout when I’m praying my prayers / Can you even hear me up there?” she sings. “It’s hard to believe it when all that we’re seeing is one little frame at a time / We all have our version of our picture-perfect, but he has one better in mind.”

Obama's Surprise Michigan Visit: What It Means for the Senate Race New

Obama's Surprise Michigan Visit: What It Means for the Senate Race

Former President Barack Obama will campaign for Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan's progressive Democratic Senate nominee, at an event in Detroit, as Democrats fight to hold an open seat that could help decide control of the upper chamber.Obama will appear with El-Sayed at an October 24 rally, less than two weeks before Election Day, alongside other top Michigan Democrats, including gubernatorial nominee Jocelyn Benson. The former president is stepping up his role in the midterms, with more campaign stops and ads expected in the closing weeks."It is my honor and privilege to announce that President Barack Obama is joining us on the trail in Detroit on Saturday, October 24," El-Sayed wrote on X, where he has more than 300,000 followers. The Detroit event is a notable show of support for El-Sayed, who defeated moderate Representative Haley Stevens in an August primary and has since worked to consolidate Democratic support in his race against Republican Mike Rogers. Obama is the latest in a string of high-profile Democrats to join El-Sayed on the campaign trail in recent weeks. Former Vice President Kamala Harris campaigned with him last month in Detroit, where the two held a roundtable on Black maternal health.Polls Show a Tight Race in MichiganObama's rally news comes as recent polls show El-Sayed holding a narrow edge over Rogers, with several surveys putting the race within a few points.A Fox News poll, conducted by Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research from September 24 to 28, found El-Sayed leading Rogers 50 percent to 49 percent among 1,028 likely voters. A Trafalgar Group survey taken September 28 to 30 showed a similar picture, with El-Sayed ahead 47 percent to 45 percent among 1,085 likely voters. Trafalgar is a Republican-leaning firm.Other polls have given El-Sayed more breathing room. Marist University found him up 51 percent to 44 percent among 1,235 registered voters in a survey conducted September 24 to 27, while a Big Data Poll survey for the Public Polling Project, taken September 22 to 24, had him leading 47 percent to 42 percent among 678 likely voters.El-Sayed Courts Moderates as Rogers Ties Him to Hasan PikerWith Election Day approaching, El-Sayed has leaned on some of the Democratic Party's biggest names to broaden his appeal. The support from party leaders like Obama or Harris comes as El-Sayed works to reassure voters who have questioned whether his ties to the party's left wing make him electable statewide in Michigan, which Trump carried in 2016 and 2024. His campaign is also hiring a Jewish community liaison as he seeks to repair relationships strained during the primary.Rogers has made those ties central to his campaign, focusing on El-Sayed's relationship with Hasan Piker, the left-wing Twitch streamer who campaigned with him at the University of Michigan and Michigan State in April. Republican ads have called Piker El-Sayed's "running mate."After El-Sayed's primary win, Rogers wrote that he never imagined running against "someone who believes America deserved 9/11." The remark came from Piker in 2019, not El-Sayed. El-Sayed accused Rogers of Islamophobia over the attack.El-Sayed has declined to disavow Piker, which he calls "his friend" saying he wants to reach the streamer's millions of followers. "This is not a campaign that is about a Twitch streamer in California," he said last month.El-Sayed Presses Economic Message on Fox NewsEl-Sayed made his economic pitch on Fox News on Monday, arguing that Washington has prioritized the wealthy in an interview that quickly circulated on social media."What we have right now is we keep offering more and more opportunities for money-making for the people who have already made it, rather than making sure that everybody else can play, too," he said.He tied rising costs to the war with Iran, saying the situation in the Strait of Hormuz meant "we can't move oil and gas." The host disputed that, saying oil was close to flowing out of the strait again. El-Sayed shot back: "So why are gas prices so high?"The exchange turned into a broader clash over the conflict. "Why are we fighting this war?" El-Sayed asked. When the host replied that Iran had posed a major threat to the region, he answered, "The nuclear threat had been contained."The host countered that Iran had been "breaking JCPOA by many estimations," a reference to the 2015 nuclear agreement. "By estimations people like to cherry-pick, sure," El-Sayed said.Pointing to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Senate nominee questioned whether military escalation had paid off. "How has that worked out for us? Has that made us safer?"Latest Developments in Michigan Senate RaceThe candidates have yet to debate. Rogers skipped a televised debate on Fox 2 Detroit last week, saying he "never agreed" to it, while El-Sayed spoke for an hour beside an empty podium. Rogers accused moderator Roop Raj of bias, a claim Raj rejected. Rogers said two televised debates are scheduled for October.Forecasts and betting markets have also moved toward El-Sayed. Decision Desk HQ gives him a 67 percent chance of winning, with its director of data science, Scott Tranter, saying that "time is running out" for Rogers to close the gap.Spending is climbing, too. Disclosed spending on the race has topped $205 million, according to federal records reviewed by Bridge Michigan, closing in on the $222 million spent on Michigan's 2024 Senate contest. Six of the top 10 outside spenders this year are backing Rogers.Sabato's Crystal Ball moved the race from "Toss-up" to "Leans Democratic," calling El-Sayed a "soft favorite" over Rogers.Newsweek’s reporters and editors used Martyn, our AI assistant, to produce this story. Alex Ovechkin's Retirement Shocker Amid Putin Controversy New

Alex Ovechkin's Retirement Shocker Amid Putin Controversy

NHL legend Alex Ovechkin will retire at the end of the 2026-27 season, the Washington Capitals legend announced on Monday, October 5. “My family and I decided this summer that this will be my final year in the NHL,” Ovechkin, 41, said in a release. “I love this game so much, but I know in my heart it’s the right decision. It was important for me to make this announcement before our first home game, so I have the chance to thank all the people around the game, everyone who has been so important to me and my family and helped me through good times and tough losses.” The Capitals have opened their season with one win and one loss on the road. Their home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ovechkin continued, “I wouldn’t have been able to achieve everything I have in my life without them. I am excited about this season with my teammates, and we will do everything we can to make this year special. I am going to enjoy every moment with my family, my boys, our fans and everyone who has been part of my hockey career. See you Wednesday, babes!” The Capitals drafted Ovechkin No. 1 overall in the 2004 NHL Draft and he has spent his entire career in Washington, winning the Stanley Cup with the team in 2018. He will retire holding a slew of NHL records, including most regular season career goals, most goals scored by his position, most shots on goal and most goaltenders scored on. Ovechkin’s announcement also comes while he is embroiled in controversy surrounding his support for Russian president Vladimir Putin. The hockey star was born and raised in Russia, and maintains a home in Moscow, where he plans to move permanently after his retirement. Ovechkin has long supported the Russian leader, who has been in power since 1999, with the exception of a four-year stretch from 2008 to 2012. He appeared in an ad for Putin’s United Russia party in September, just before the country’s elections. “I’m Russian and I support my country,” Ovechkin said in a news conference when asked about the ad. “I’m gonna live there, my kids are gonna live there. I’m for peace and love and I hope everything’s going to be okay.” His public support for Putin, coming at a time in which Russia is in the midst of a war with Ukraine, has resulted in plenty of blowback in the United States. South Carolina congressman Joe Wilson wrote in a letter to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, saying that it was “incredibly alarming” to see Ovechkin supporting “the party of war criminal Putin.” NHL Hall of Famer Dominik Hasek wrote via X that Ovechkin, “bears a significant share of responsibility through his public stance… for the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Ukrainians and Russians killed or maimed.”

Tyquan Thornton's Resilience Shines After Shocking Ankle Injury New

Tyquan Thornton's Resilience Shines After Shocking Ankle Injury

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton took to social media after suffering a gnarly ankle injury against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, October 4.  “Love this team! 4-0 baby! I’ll be back stronger & better #ChiefsKingdom,” Thornton, 26, shared via X hours after the game, a 30-27 victory for Kansas City.  Thornton shared a separate message via Instagram, writing, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step! .” The wide receiver’s Instagram post received a ton of love from his Chiefs teammates, including tight end Travis Kelce. “All we make is big plays!!!! ,” Kelce, 37, commented.  Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes added, “My dawg! .” Thornton suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of the game on Sunday after securing a 55-yard completion from Mahomes. After being tackled by Raiders safety Treydan Stukes, Thornton’s left ankle bent at a noticeably unpleasant angle.  He was carted off the field and was later seen exiting Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on crutches.  According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Thornton suffered a dislocated left ankle that was later put back into place by team doctors. He traveled back to Kansas City with the team and will have a full evaluation on Monday, October 5. For now, he’s listed out “indefinitely.” Thornton’s injury came amid a banner night for the wide receiver, shortly after he secured two touchdowns and amassed 111 receiving yards, leading the team.  "It sucks that he hurt his ankle on that play, but it was a big play for us," Mahomes, 31, told reporters after the game. "It helped us go get the win. It's tough because those guys put in so much work. I was in that spot last year. One play can change your season. You hope for the best, but at the same time you want to show him support.” The quarterback continued, “I know how it is when you're in that position, and it's like the world is closing in on you. He's one of the best teammates I've ever had." Mahomes suffered a season-ending torn ACL and LCL in his left leg in December 2025. He returned to the field for Chiefs’ 2026 season opener last month.  Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Thornton’s injury “doesn’t look good.” "His attitude is unbelievable,” Reid, 68, told reporters. “He's great for the team and kind of a leader of that [receivers] group. For that to happen, especially with the year he's having, he's had a phenomenal year to this point, it's a tough one to see for all of the guys." The Chiefs are entering their bye week, and return to action at home against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, October 18.

Prince Andrew's Legal Battle with U.K. Police: What’s Really Happening? New

Prince Andrew's Legal Battle with U.K. Police: What’s Really Happening?

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor — the former Prince Andrew — is taking legal action against the U.K.’s Thames Valley Police in connection with his arrest this past February. Andrew’s lawyers filed for a judicial review to determine the lawfulness of search warrants that allowed police to search his home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk and his former home, Royal Lodge in Windsor, the U.K.’s Telegraph newspaper reported on Monday, October 5. “We are engaged in legal proceedings in relation to warrants previously obtained from the Central Criminal Court,” a Thames Valley Police spokesperson told the BBC on Monday. “As these legal proceedings are currently ongoing, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further.” Per the Telegraph, Andrew is the first member of the royal family to challenge the “lawfulness of criminal proceedings against them since the trial of Charles I in 1649.” Andrew was arrested on February 19 — his 66th birthday — on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said in a statement at the time, “Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office.” “It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offense,” he continued. “We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.” Andrew’s arrest came just weeks after the Thames Valley Police confirmed to the BBC that it was assessing allegations that Andrew shared confidential information with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a U.K. trade envoy, a role he held between 2001 and 2011. Andrew’s legal challenge comes one year after Buckingham Palace announced that his brother, King Charles III, was stripping the former Duke of York of his royal style, titles and honors amid scrutiny over sexual assault allegations and his association with Epstein. Andrew has always maintained his innocence and denied any wrongdoing. “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence,” the palace said in an October 2025 statement. “Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.” Following Andrew’s arrest in February, King Charles, 77, said, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation.” “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course,” Charles continued. “As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”

Milania Giudice's Heartfelt Birthday Tribute to Sister Amidst Legal Drama New

Milania Giudice's Heartfelt Birthday Tribute to Sister Amidst Legal Drama

Milania Giudice is paying tribute to her sister on Gabriella Giudice’s birthday. “Happy birthday @gabriella.giudice ,” Milania, 20, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, October 4. “You really are the best sister I could ever ask for. You're genuinely one of the smartest people I know, and I'm so proud of the person you are. I've put you through a lot over the years, and I know I haven't always made being my sister easy, but you've always been there for me, accepted me, and loved me through everything.” She continued, “I've always told you that you're literally Cinderella in real life, and even with the black hair now, I still stand by it . I can't believe you're 22 already. Time really flies. I love you so much and I'm so lucky to have you as my sister. .” Alongside the message, Milania shared sweet photos of Gabriella, 22, and sisters Audriana Giudice, 17, and Gia Giudice, 25, through the years. In one image, Milania also shared a throwback photo featuring her late friend, Victoria Zardoya. (Zardoya died of a traumatic brain injury after an accidental fall at the Fort Dade historic ruins in Florida in July. She was 20.) In the comments section, mom Teresa Giudice shared her support, writing, “♥️.” (Teresa, 54, welcomed her four daughters with former husband Joe Giudice. The pair finalized their divorce in 2020.) Milania’s post comes after she was arrested in May at Teresa’s home after an alleged incident. She was charged with simple assault and purposely/knowingly causing bodily injury before pleading not guilty to all charges. (Us confirmed that the next court date in the case is set for December 1.) In an arrest report obtained by Us, Gabriella called authorities to report her “acting erratically” and “throwing food [and] candles.” The alleged victim was not identified and no injuries were reported. In July, Milania broke her silence on the arrest after a fake mugshot circulated on social media. “I have one thing to say, I’m going to save the rest for tomorrow. But that ‘mugshot’ of me, if you guys really believe. That’s AI,” she said in a TikTok video. “I ate down in my mugshot. I looked fire. I mean, nothing to be proud of.” Milania noted that “s*** happens in life,” adding, “It is what it is, you gotta learn from it. Just become a better person and talk about it. I just was not in a good area in my life. That happens, I’ve been through a lot in life and some other stuff happened to me. Just because you guys think you know everything that happens in my life, you just really don’t.” Months later, Milania made headlines when she reportedly posted and quickly deleted a video of herself during what looked to be a heated exchange with her mom and Gia at the Tampa International Airport. Milania’s rep, Marina DeSantis, told TMZ in September that she is receiving professional support following the alleged incident. “She is currently surrounded by people who love her and is under the care of professionals who are working with her and her family,” DeSantis’ statement read. “Milania is deeply loved by her family and friends, and all of us are doing everything we can to support her as she navigates an incredibly difficult time in her life, particularly following the devastating loss of her best friend, Victoria.” The statement continued, “Milania is a good-hearted and caring young woman who has been going through a very challenging period, and our focus right now is simply on her health, healing and well-being. In time, she hopes that being open about her experiences may help other young people facing their own struggles, but for now, we ask for compassion and privacy as she and her family continue to navigate this together.” Joe addressed the airport incident in a statement last month, calling his daughter a “good girl” with a “big heart” who is “going through a very difficult period right now.” Teresa, for her part, shared a lengthy statement via her Instagram Story and noted Milania has “experienced tremendous heartbreak and significant psychological trauma” after her best friend’s death. “Milania is my daughter before she is anything else. She is a young woman going through an incredibly difficult and deeply personal time, and she deserves the opportunity to heal without every moment of her pain being analyzed publicly,” Teresa wrote, in part. “I am asking, from one mother to another, and from one family to all of you, to please show Milania compassion and kindness and allow her the privacy she needs right now.”

Kim Kardashian's Surprising Take on Love with Lewis Hamilton New

Kim Kardashian's Surprising Take on Love with Lewis Hamilton

Kim Kardashian is opening up about her dating mindset when things turned romantic with former friend, and now boyfriend, Lewis Hamilton. “I was really single for five years,” Kardashian, 45, shared in a Saturday, October 3, profile with The Times. “And that felt great. I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with. I really felt no rush. Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time. I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up. I really wasn’t even thinking about it. The universe works in your favour when you just allow it to.” When asked if she would like to talk about her new romance with the F1 driver, Kardashian told the outlet, “In the most respectful way, I’d probably rather not.” Kardashian and Hamilton, 41, were first linked earlier this year after their longtime friendship turned romantic. The pair have since been spotted together on multiple occasions, including Super Bowl LX and during a trip to Tokyo. In August, an insider exclusively told Us that the Kardashians star is considering expanding her family with Hamilton. (Kardashian welcomed four children with ex-husband Kanye West: daughters North, 13, and Chicago, 8, and sons Saint, 10, and Psalm, 7.) “They are really in love. Kim may want to have more kids with Lewis,” a source close to the pair said at the time. “They just get each other, they get each other’s quirks. She is really happy with him.” A second insider, meanwhile, shared that the couple are "super in love" and are "such a nice fit” for each other. "All of their friends and family are so happy that they are so happy together. ... They are both really driven and being on the same page about that definitely helps," the source said at the time. Since her divorce from West, Kardashian has also been briefly linked to comedian Pete Davidson. In September, Davidson, 32, made headlines when he reflected on his romance with the Skims founder. “I’m one of the survivors — the few and the proud. We’re like the Marines,” Davidson quipped to Variety about the men who’ve famously dated members of the Kardashian family. “Look, man, that’s a really tough atmosphere if you’re not game. One of the things I love about Kim and that whole family is they’re like, ‘This is what we do.’ I found that very attractive and mature.”
